Even if it’s not a VW ID. Buzz, it’s still very stylish: the new Multivan. The VW T7 Multivan with our KW V3 coilovers lost none of its charm and drives at least as well as its popular predecessors.
For the predecessors of the VW T7 we already developed KW products: In our product range, we offer KW V3 coilovers, KW DDC plug&play coilovers, KW V2 Comfort coilovers, KW V3 Leveling coilovers, and the KW V1 coilovers. At the moment we are in the middle of the engineering process of KW coilovers for the VW T7.
The reasons for the late development of KW coilovers for the T7 are simple: We are also affected by the chip crisis of the automotive industry. Therefore, we wait several months for development vehicles because no automotive manufacturer is able to deliver in due time at the moment.
The new T7 is based on a new VW platform. With 4,97 meters in length and 1,94 meters in width, it is longer and broader than old VW T6 Facelift buses (T6.1). Nevertheless, many things remained the same when it comes to the driving experience. The wheelbase of the T7 is 3,12 meters and has a longer overhang (surplus).
People that see more than just a car in a bus, coupe, cabriolet, station wagon, sedan, sports car, or SUV know that our market segment is a very special one. KW develops and manufactures coilover kits for automotive enthusiasts. Our job is more than just a “job” – it’s a passion.
Anyone who ever drove a VW T5 or VW T6 with KW coilovers knows what we mean. There is a reason why we count drivers of VW Campers, VW Multivans, or VW Transporters as one of our biggest and most loyal customers.
With our coilover engineering, we are able to give VW buses a good posture in curves. It becomes negligible that you’re sitting in a VW T6.1 – the same applies to the new VW T7 with KW V3 coilovers.
The stainless-steel coilover kit by KW for the VW T7 Multivan enables continuous lowering of up to 55 millimeters at the front and rear axle.
If it is not planned to fully exhaust the lowering, a minimum lowering of 35 millimeters at the trapezoidal thread of the front axle struts is needed when retrofitting the VW T7 Multivan with KW V3 coilovers.
Many people believe that a coilover kit that is adjustable in compression and rebound is way too complex for an everyday vehicle. A KW V1, KW V2, or a height-adjustable spring set will do the job as well, don’t they? Well, you can do that and you will feel a difference to the serial VW coilovers…
A video by KW about the creation of our V3 coilover kit
…BUT nearly everyone that ever drove a car or bus with KW V3 coilovers wondered why they didn’t purchase a V3 earlier. Once you go V3, you never go back. If you’re still skeptical, don’t bother asking our retail partners!
But why does the KW V3 feel so good?
Demounted two-way compression valve
Cross-section of the compression
In our KW V3 coilovers, we produce dampers with two-way compression and rebound valves. Due to this multivalve technology, we reach a more sensitive damping because we use an adjustable lowspeed valve in the compression and rebound.

An animation about how a KW V3 damper works
Some time ago we made an animation that illustrates how a KW V3 damper works. For those of you that like to know more about technical details, we try to explain this complex topic and the setup of our two-way multi-valve technology in a few sentences.
Compression valve with adjustable lowspeed compression
Bottom of the compression valve which is installed in the KW V3 coilovers
In the V3 the compression valve – which is also known as bottom valve – has a two-stage structure. The spring plates and bolts which are in charge of the highspeed compression can’t be further adjusted. Especially for the VW T7, the setup of the spring plates and bolts are set in advance when the dampers are manufactured. In the KW V3, the preloaded lowspeed compression valves can be further opened or closed within 12 clicks.
The base setup of the dampers, springs, and the spring deflection of the KW V3 coilovers is always as tight as needed and as comfortable as possible. The pre-adjusted setup can be tuned with help of our adjustable KW dampers. With 16 clicks the cross-section in the lowspeed rebound can be enlarged or reduced. This way the individual driving experience can be exactly customized.
If the rebound is opened the driving comfort of the VW T7 increases noticeably. If the rebound is closed the nodding and rolling of the chassis with a total height of 1,90 meters is reduced. The handling becomes more dynamic than with serial coilovers.
Additionally, the adjustable lowspeed compression can be opened or closed within 12 clicks. This further impacts the steering behavior and grip level of the tires. Simply said: The rebound has the task to drag the chassis on the street while the compression influences the deflecting and supports the chassis.
