More and more drivers of electric vehicles demand car accessories. This is why we offer a variety of KW coilover suspensions for electric cars and electric SUVs such as the Cupra Born, Ford Mustang, Mach-E, Polestar II, Skoda Enyaq iV, Smart EQ ForTwo, VW e-up!, VW ID 3, and the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y.
Both electric cars Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y with all-wheel drive can be equipped with our KW V3 Leveling suspension. An approved parts certificate is included in the scope of delivery. When using our V3 leveling coilovers, driving dynamics and comfort are combined – without having to lower your car.
If requested, the serial ground clearance can be increased up to five millimeters on both axles. Continuous lowering is possible up to 20 millimeters.
If you own a Tesla Model 3 with rear-wheel drive (RWD) you can lower the front axle by 0 to 25 millimeters with our KW V3 Leveling Kit; in other words, after installing the Leveling coilover suspension kit, the front axle will either remain at the level of the factory ground clearance or you can lower the front by up to 25 millimeters. At the rear axle, you can even raise the factory ground clearance by 5 millimeters or lower it by up to 20 millimeters.
Our popular KW V3 coilovers enable a lowering of 25 to 30 millimeters in the all-wheel driven Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y.
Apart from manually adjustable KW coilovers we also developed KW DDC plug & play coilovers for the Cupra Born. DDC stands for dynamic damping control.
Improved driving dynamics, more stability, and better handling combined with minimal lowering
Comparison between the Tesla OEM suspension and our KW V3 coilovers in a Tesla Model 3
Similar to the KW V3 coilovers, the KW V3 Leveling coilovers with their multi-valve compression and rebound dampers can be adjusted manually.
Cross-section of the rebound valve
With the help of 16 clicks, a lowspeed-bypass-channel within the rebound valve can influence the compression and extension of the dampers. For example, it impacts the pace of extension of a compressed coilover when there is a load change.
Cross-section of a compression valve
To fine-tune damping, the cross-section of the low-speed compression can be reduced or extended within twelve clicks.
Due to the manually adjustable dampers, the driver can impact the unsteady behavior of the body when steering, or nodding while braking and accelerating.
Coilovers with multi-valve technology not only enable adjusting the suspension setup to improve the driving experience but also damp in a more harmonic way. Additionally, a wider performance map for damping in the V3 leveling coilovers could be taken into account.
This enables more leeway in the forerun to ensure the best possible compromise between driving dynamics and comfort.
The basic configuration of the dampers, coilover springs, and spring deflection of the KW V3 leveling suspension focuses on ride comfort and better handling.
Available for KW V3 and KW V3 Leveling for the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y: KW top mounts
Some drivers of a Model 3 or Model Y already know that serial top mounts in the serial suspension – and even in retrofit suspensions – can lead to creaking sounds.
Whether you’re parking or while driving your daily route: Those creaking noises in your Tesla can be very annoying. As an alternative, we now offer our own manufactured top mounts with a rubber element. A rubber-metal element reacts more sensitively to steering movements and other impulses. In contrast to the Tesla serial top mounts, the force rising of the KW rubber mounts is progressively designed.
