A winning team: The adaptive KW DDC plug & play coilover kit and the electric BMW i4 Drive (G26). Nevertheless, it should be remembered that our electrically adjustable KW DDC plug & play coilover kit only works for BMW models with optional BMW M sport coilovers and electric damper controlling.
KW has been offering electric coilovers for over ten years. Electronic means that we are able to adjust the dampers via electromagnetic proportional valves.
Our KW DDC coilovers were released in 2011
We were the first to offer a DDC coilover kit within our segment which is the aftermarket and the tuning accessory market. Being a pioneer in our section is something we aim for.
Therefore, it is no wonder we don’t stop at electric mobility. This is why we constantly develop coilovers for vehicles with alternative driving concepts. A new car that can now be equipped with KW coilovers is the BMW i4 Drive (G26).
The Gran Coupé with a beautiful performance stance and maximum lowering looks good as well. Even with rather boring serial rims.
For those who want to retrofit their car with a DDC plug & play coilover kit, no extra wires need to be laid or adjustments at the OEM suspension software need to be done.
What makes our KW DDC coilover kit special is the fact that it is compatible with a variety of electric damper systems. Our KW DDC plug & play is now available for selected car models of Alfa Romeo, Audi, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Seat, Skoda, VW, and BMW.
Similar to the optional BMW M sport suspension the different driving modes can be selected in the cockpit.
Within the Comfort mode in the BMW i4 eDrive40 (G26), the adaptive coilover automatically damps street irregularities without losing corner stability. On wavy roads, the KW DDC coilovers are way more comfortable than the conventional BMW i4 serial suspension without adaptive M-dampers.
Further driving modes also ensure rolling comfort. With the KW DDC plug & play coilover kit at the front axle, the 340 hp BMW i4 eDrive 40 (G26) Gran Coupé gains more direct handling. In the Sport mode, the heavy electric vehicle drives in a sporty and comfortable way.
When equipping the BMW i4 eDrive40 (G26) Gran Coupé with a KW DDC plug & play coilover kit, only the front axle needs to be retrofitted. At the rear axle, an adaptive air suspension system is installed. A KW joint rod adjusts the height of the air suspension system.
The only thing that needs to be adapted manually within the KW DDC plug & play coilover kit is the lowering. Because of the retrofit of a KW DDC coilover kit at the front axle a continuous lowering of 20 to 40 millimeters is possible. At the rear axle, the car can be lowered from 15 to 35 millimeters with a KW joint rod.
The electric BMW already looks good with our coilover kits. With additional light-alloy wheels, the i4 would definitely make a good performance at the Essen Motor Show at the TuningXperience.
