Our KW V5 Clubsport coilover kit is finally available. At the German Essen Motor Show 2021, KW already presented the first prototypes of the 4-way adjustable Clubsport coilover with KW Solid Piston Technology.
Almost half a year later at the Tuning World Bodensee 2022, the KW V5 Clubsport coilover kit celebrates its premiere in the Mercedes-AMG GT R. But why did it become the AMG? Quite simple: Swabian automotive manufacturer, Swabian event, and a Swabian coilover kit. It doesn’t get any better than this!
There’s always a lively exchange between Affalterbach, Stuttgart, and Fichtenberg: Selected projects regarding the black-series-models (e.g., Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series, Mercedes-Benz G500 4×42) and many more vehicles use KW coilover engineering.
The KW V5 Clubsport coilovers in detail
We also supplied our triple-adjustable dampers directly to the Mercedes factory for the special Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro model, which is limited to 750 units.
When the GT R Pro was launched many appreciated the car for its sporty driving. Many test drivers stated that there hardly is a sportscar like the Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro that is as close to a race car despite being street-legal.
With the KW V5 Clubsport we take it a step further than with the manufacturing of original equipment for the AMG GT R Pro: With our Solid Piston dampers, we improve the physics of shock absorbers dramatically.
Even with low suspension travel, we achieve exactly the damping needed to keep a sports car safe and easy to drive at all times – also at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
The KW V5 Clubsport coilover kit with aluminum unibal topmounts, racing springs, and four-way adjustable dampers is made for the use of semi slicks
When steering aggressively or while driving the famous “Fuchsröhre” at the Nürburgring the chassis of the Mercedes-AMG GT R is perfectly balanced and supported.
Thanks to the adjustable multi-valve technology the KW V5 Clubsport dampens speed bumps and transversal joints. Even when driving over curbs, the Mercedes equipped with KW V5 Clubsport coilovers stays controllable and safe.
With the entire Clubsport coilover construction, we brought calmness into the car without having to make compromises at the performance.

The KW V5 Clubsport is separately adjustable in highspeed and lowspeed regarding the compression and rebound
With the KW Solid Piston dampers in the KW V5 Clubsport coilover suspension, the hydraulic fluid does not flow over the working piston, as is the case with conventional monotube and twin-tube dampers. The piston displaces the oil column directly into the valve housing, where the damper fluid flows through the low-speed needle valves and high-speed wave valves.
With ergonomic adjustment wheels, the compression and rebound can be adjusted in the highspeed and lowspeed range without having to use tools.
With the KW V5 Clubsport coilovers, there are no wheel guiding forces. This is because the Mercedes-AMG GT R has an independent wheel suspension with double triangular wishbones.
For other cars such as the BMW M4 (G82) we will develop the V5 Clubsport with wheel-guiding MacPherson front axle struts and KW upside-down damper cartridges. First prototypes were already presented at the Essen Motor Show 2021.
Just like every KW Clubsport coilover kit the KW V5 Clubsport also comes with a parts certificate. From now on it is available for all Mercedes AMG GT R. At the front and rear axle a continuous lowering of 10-25 millimeters is possible.
In the scope of delivery of our KW coilover kit with aluminum alloy, unibal strut bearings are included. Due to the axis geometry, they are not adjustable in the camber.
