They are here and they are trendy: our KW coilovers for electric cars. We now also offer the adaptive KW DDC plug&play coilover suspension for the Cupra Born (Type K1) and also the KW V3 coilover suspension aka KW Variant 3 coilover suspension, which is manually adjustable in compression and rebound.
In many markets, more and more people decide to buy an electric car. In Germany alone, according to various media reports, pure electric vehicles (also due to subsidies) have already overtaken diesel engines in terms of new passenger car registrations in 2021.
At KW, we also benefit from this ongoing electric car boom. It is interesting to see that more and more drivers of electric cars, such as the Tesla Model 3, are keen on tuning. Alongside alloy wheels, our coilovers are also in high demand.
So, it’s no wonder that we are developing our coilovers with parts certification for more and more electric cars. With our height-adjustable coilovers, and within the terms of the parts certificate, the electric car can be lowered 20 to 45 millimetres.
While the damping of the KW V3 can be adjusted manually, the DDC plug&play with its electric damper control is recommended for all Cupra Borns that have the optional DCC standard suspension control. The KW DDC plug & play coilover suspension, which is compatible with the DCC damper control, constantly adjusts its damping to the road and driving style.
As a result, the signals from the body and wheel travel sensors are read out and the control unit of the Cupra Born (K1) regulates the KW DDC plug & play coilover suspension per wheel accordingly. Acceleration, braking and steering are also taken into account.
However, the more harmoniously an electric car is damped, the range can also benefit. By installing our coilover suspension in a Tesla Model 3, electric mobility specialists achieved a range increase of seven percent.
You can either order our KW coilovers directly from us or open the dealer search on our homepage to find a contact and installation partner near you.
