For our KW Competition motorsport customers, the winning streak continued at the first 24h race of the season. While winter reigns in Europe, the 24 Hours of Dubai took place in mid-January 2021.
The Emirate of Dubai is home to the Porsche customer sports team GPX Racing, which took on the challenges of a 24h race with strong competitors at their home race with a Porsche 911 GT3 R.
All Porsche 911 GT3 R (991.2) worldwide are homologated with racing suspensions with KW Competition Soild-Piston damper technology, just like its predecessor.
In Dubai, a total of five Porsche customer sports 911 GT3-Rs started and they not only dominated the race.
Already in timed practice, the Porsche teams set the performance level high. Very high. Herberth Motorsport, vice-champion of the 2020 ADAC GT Masters, from Bavaria, drove the fastest 24-hour race lap time ever set by a GT race car at the 24-hour race in Dubai.
Sven Müller drove the Herberth Porsche 911 GT3 R (#92) to a lap time of 1:56.553 minutes on the 5.39-kilometer race track in Dubai.
Thus, the Herberth team with drivers Klaus Bachler, Jürgen Häring, Vincent Kolb, Sven Müller and Wolfgang Triller started from pole position.
During the course of the race, Herbert-Motorsport’s starting number 91 retired, as did team car #92. The third Herberth Porsche (#93) finished in the eleventh position due to a lengthy repair phase.
The Italian KW Competition customer sports team Dinamic Motorsport was also haunted by bad luck. Over the entire race, the golden 911 GT3 R was within striking distance of the leading group.
Even the one or other body contact only slowed the team down for a short time. Again and again, they pushed to the front of the field until, in the end, they had to pull out of the race about 90 minutes before the end of the race.
In comparison, things went according to plan for GPX Racing from lap 124 onwards. The driver quartet Axcil Jefferies, Frederic Fatien, Mathieu Jaminet, Julien Andlauer, and Alain Ferté countered all attacks from the competition with ease.
Porsche wins the 24-hour race in Dubai for the sixth time
With a lead of 3:05.086 minutes, Axcil Jefferies crossed the finish line first, after a total of 600 laps.
From snowy Fichtenberg in Germany we congratulate our motorsport customer GPX Racing on this successful season opener. The overall victory by GPX Racing is the sixth win for the automobile manufacturer, Porsche, at the 24h race in Dubai.
