Affordable, a full equipped and lots of driving pleasure are the promises of the Hyundai i20 N (BC3). After installing a KW V3 coilover suspension kit, the 204 hp strong hatchback delivers even more!
We don’t even need to address the “maximum stance factor” of a KW V3 coilover suspension; since actually every car enthusiast knows what a KW coilover suspension can do when it comes to lowering alone.
Compared to the “normal Hyundai i20 series models”, the sporty “N” is already lowered substantially from its factory setting. Depending on the choice of lowering when installing the KW coilover suspension, the i20 N (type BC3) can be lowered stepless between 10 and 30 millimeters.
At first glance, 30 millimeters doesn’t seem like much, but the days when a small car or compact model had the freedom of movement of an infinitely adjustable lowering system like the old VW Golf 2 are far behind us. In the present day, the distance between the center of the wheel and the edge of the wing alone would turn a Golf 2 into an SUV.
If an i20 N is lowered by 30 millimeters, it looks pretty good. And remember, we don’t develop “parking mode suspension”, we develop “drivers suspension”. So even with maximum lowering a Hyundai i20 N always drives perfect in every situation – even at top speed on the motorway.
Our KW V3 coilover suspension, developed for the Hyundai i20 N, is a pure road suspension for daily use. Therefore, during development we made the compromise that we would consider the valves, the suspension, the piston rod, the spring travel and co. as secondary to everyday driving with road tires.
No matter which road car we develop a KW coilover from the “Street Performance” product category for, the coilover suspension combines maximum lowering with maximum driving pleasure, maximum driving safety, maximum driving dynamics and outstanding driving comfort.
For example, we pay great attention to the fact that the KW coilover suspension always performs flawless at maximum lowering. In the so-called spring rate test, we load the development vehicle in question with dozens of times the maximum load.
Sporty, harmonious damping even on poorly constructed secondary roads
We always build the dampers of the KW V3 coilover suspension with our well-known multi-valve technology. At very high vertical wheel accelerations, the high-speed valves pre-configured in the damper production open in the KW V3 and the wheels can compress harmoniously when driving over bridge cross joints or bumps in the road.
These high-speed valves are not individually adjustable, as we pre-configure them specifically for the Hyundai i20 N (BC3) during production of the suspension and damper.
If the pre-adjusted KW suspension is too comfortable or too tight for some drivers, the low-speed compression and rebound damping can be adjusted individually in just a few steps.
The low-speed rebound stage influences the handling and the rolling comfort at slow speeds. The rebound damping can also be changed in a controlled manner with 16 clicks.
Adjustments of the compression damping affect mainly the tilting and rolling movements of the body as well as the turning behaviour. You can select from twelve levels of clicks.
If the valves are opened, the compression damping is reduced at low speed and the vehicle lowers quicker during steering movements. If the compression damping is increased, the piston rod lowers more slowly. As the Hyundai i20N steers more direct, the tighter the compression damping and the rebound damping are adjusted, turning behavior as well as the body support becomes more precise.
Anyone driving a current car like the Hyundai i20 N with a KW V3 coilover suspension will be amazed at how sporty the small car rides, with a much more harmonious and comfortable ride compared to conventional suspension.
Soon we will be releasing a KW V3 Clubsport coilover suspension for the Hyundai iN20 with circuit design and motorsport components, since the the 204 hp small car will with no doubt be regularly present at track days.
